Delays in language development are the most common types of developmental delays. Some children maybe frustrated when they cannot express in words their needs. Some speech delay are temporary while some are signs of a more serious problem such as hearing loss.

Signs to watch out for;
- Irresponsive to loud signs by two months of age.
- No cooing sounds by four months of age
- No production of vowel sounds by six months of age
- No babble by nine months
- Does not say simple words like ‘mama’by twelve months
- Does not say new words by eighteen (18) months
- Does not make two word phrases by twenty four (24) words
